Becoming a fish

Learning to breathe underwater at last. We just completed our Open Water Certification, the first step to discover what lies beneath the surface. The class has been pretty good, outside of the slight stress factor, the coldish water in Victoria, the challenge of figuring out how to equalise your ears properly and the difficulty of finding the sweet spot where you neither sink nor float up to the surface. It's tricky. We saw some pretty wild things on the ocean floor, sting rays, crabs, sea urchins and starfish; wish I could have paid more attention to them, but I had to focus on basic underwater survival technique. It'll get better. Pissing off wildlife will have to wait. All that aside, breathing underwater is pretty neat. Hoping to find some pretty things to take photos of on our upcoming dives in Fiji.
